One integrated approachYour body, routines and goals

The problem

Is this you?

You still have plenty you want to do. You would like your body and energy to keep up.

Let’s talk about your starting point
  • Work and family have gradually pushed your own health down the list.
  • You feel less strong, carry more body fat or tire more easily than you used to.
  • You want to get back into exercise, but you’re unsure what suits you now.
  • You’ve tried advice, diets or fitness plans that didn’t fit your life.
  • You want clear direction from someone who understands the whole picture.

The approach

A stronger body.
A better way to live.

I take time to understand what you want to change and what works for you. Then I bring exercise, nutrition and recovery together in a considered approach to your specific needs.

Exercise + movement

Build strength you can use

I’ll help you build strength and fitness at a pace that suits you, with exercise shaped around your ability and what you want to achieve.

Nutrition + body composition

Fuel the life you want

I’ll help you make sense of nutrition and find practical ways to eat for energy, recovery and your body composition goals.

Recovery + lifestyle

Make room for more energy

I’ll look at your sleep, hydration and recovery with you, helping you build routines that fit your life and support the things you enjoy.

One plan. The whole picture.

Exercise · Movement · Nutrition · Strength · Body composition · Sleep · Hydration · Recovery · Habits · Performance · Longevity

If supplements are relevant to your goals, I can discuss them with you. You don’t need to know what to take before we start.

The method

The eight-week
LFL Method.

One-to-one coaching. Eight weeks. A plan designed for you and about you.

Our coaching appointment gives us time to talk, review your progress and refine your plan. Between appointments, you’ll put your individual exercise, nutrition and lifestyle actions into practice. That work is an essential part of the eight weeks.

These eight stages give you a feel for how I work. I’ll develop the detail with you, so your plan reflects your needs rather than a standard template.

Meet your coach

Hi, I’m
John McClinton.

I’m an exercise and nutrition specialist with more than 25 years of experience across education, sport and coaching. Lean Fit Life is how I bring that experience together to work personally with men aged 50+.

My work has taken me from schools to elite professional sport, coaching individuals and teams, including nutrition consultancy with the England men’s national football team for a World Cup campaign.

I draw on MSc level expertise and experience with elite performers, but I start with you: your goals, your ability and the demands of your everyday life. I’ll work with you directly to create an approach that makes sense for you.

Why one connected plan matters

Exercise, nutrition and recovery are often presented as separate projects. In daily life, they share the same time, attention and routines.

A connected plan starts with the whole picture: what you want to achieve, what your week looks like and where change is practical. I use that context to connect your actions with your goals.

Progress that means something to you

A goal becomes more useful when you can explain what achieving it would change. You might want to feel more capable on a walk, regain confidence with exercise or work towards a change in body composition.

I begin by discussing your goals with you and reviewing your starting point. Together, we’ll decide which measures are meaningful for you and use them to guide the next step.

Make the plan fit your week

Work, family and social occasions are part of your life. A useful coaching plan takes them into account from the outset.

The LFL Method includes a dedicated adaptation stage to explore how your routines can work in different circumstances. The aim is to help you understand your choices and keep a clear direction when the week changes.

Is this personal training?

I offer personal coaching that brings exercise, nutrition and lifestyle together. Exercise is part of our work, alongside your food, recovery, routines and the goals you want to achieve.

Do I need any experience?

No. I’ll start with where you are now. You don’t need fitness or nutrition knowledge, a supplement routine or specialist training clothes.

What happens between appointments?

You put your individual exercise, nutrition and lifestyle actions into practice. During our coaching appointment, I’ll review how those actions are working with you and help you decide what comes next.

I’m in my late 40s. Can I enquire?

Yes. I designed the programme for men 50+, but if my approach speaks to you, get in touch and we can discuss whether it suits you.

Can I book group or team coaching?

Yes. Select small-group or team coaching on the enquiry form and tell me a little about what you have in mind.
